Kris is a versatile freelance designer based in Los Angeles. He believes design should be, above all, driven by the needs and desires of the user.
Kris studied architecture and art at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he explored advanced manufacturing and computational technologies in design. He earned his Master of Architecture at UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design in 2021, focusing on participatory pluralist design in multifamily housing development.
He has worked as an architectural designer at Kovac Design Studio, Byben, M.AD.A.spam (in both China and LA), and GEI Development. He has a wide range of design experience, and has produced arts programming in various venues and forms. He is also the Art Director of the Collective Arts Incubator and Owner of the design & architecture gallery Potential Spam LA.

Drafted and managed a full drawing set in REVIT from design development through permit application, followed by construction document development and coordination with various consultants and stakeholders, under the project architect. Produced photo-real video renderings and presentation-level illustrated drawings for clients and publication. Designed, engineered, and built a suspended birdhouse for a local charity fundraiser, with principal.

Current MIT undergraduates and undergraduate student groups seeking funding of up to $500 for an art project are eligible to apply for a CAMIT Director’s Grant. MIT undergraduates and undergraduate student groups seeking more then $500 in support and all MIT graduate students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to apply through the regular CAMIT Grants Program.
CAMIT Director’s Grants are awarded at any time during the academic year. Preference will be given to proposals that engage the MIT community. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and applicants will be notified of the Director’s decision within one month of the date their proposal is submitted. Travel or accommodation expenses are very rarely funded, and retroactive support is not available.
