Xavier Rumph is a multi-disciplinary designer who investigates culturally ubiquitous ideologies and redelivers them in evocative and sensational formats. Xavier has a background in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Industrial Design which allows him to operate at a multitude of scales with a keen eye for detail as well as negotiate ideas with the vernacular and ecological conditions within a specific region.
Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Providence, RI, US, Bachelors, Landscape Architecture / Industrial Design
Xavier studied in the Industrial Design department at RISD. While always having an interest in environmental/ sustainable design, Xavier then discovered RISD had a landscape architecture department. Although it was a graduate program, Xavier wrote a thesis and was allowed permission to study the discipline alongside graduate students. The constant influence/ inspiration from students who already worked professionally propelled his techniques and approaches far beyond the average undergraduate student.
