The first two years of the Interior Design program are combined with the architecture students. During this time, we studied the fundamentals and history of art, architecture, and design. At the start of the third year, Interior design splits from architecture, into its own studio class. As interior design students, it is also required to take textile classes, Some classes, such as the Lighting and acoustics, as well as the Environmetal studies of HVAC are still combined with the architecture students, allowing collaboration of projects and research.
The School of Architecture's Interior Design Program at SIUC is CIDA and NASAD accredited.
