Having lost a friend on 9/11, I became the only person to have ever read through all 5.201 entries to the 2003 World Trade Center Memorial Design Competition nearly 10 years later. After finding about 300 very innovative designs, I sought out their creators to learn their stories. This project became a book, "9/11 Memorial Visions" (McFarland, 2016).
In 2017, I researched the over 1,500 worldwide 9/11 memorials and developed articles about some of the most fascinating ones. Somehow, I have become a bit of a memorial design "expert"...follow your passion.
