Huntec Development is an architectural, planning, interior design, and construction firm specializing subdivision development, commercial high-rise buildings, building construction, luxury residential houses and villas. I was a project manager in the company and was in charge of some subdivision projects including Fontana 23 Units, Fontana 89 Units, and San Bernardino 51 Units. I was also designing a 10, 000 sf, Pan Residence, a luxury house located at the prime area of Arcadia. My duties also included meeting with city staffs for building Tentative Maps approvals and construction permits and another job for developing the application and construction of solar energy and preparing the paper work with the utility companies and clients for the solar incentive applications.

I was a Job Captain in the company. My major work was detailing the building components, coordinating the DD set and controlling the drawing quality with the staff in China for some big villas, including a 40,000 sf private villa in Shanghai.

Nakada Associates is primarily an architecture and urban design firm specializing in mixed-use, commercial and residential projects. My duties include SD, DD and CD, making design progress and producing construction documents, coordinating drawings with code and engineer consultants, meeting with venders and project contractors for resolving design issues and modification meeting with building department, reviewing shop drawings and specifications. The projects that I participated were:

Barker Block Phase I (Bldg 2, Bldg 3 & Bldg 4) – Type I & III construction, a $60 million project, three warehouses, 4-story high with total 288,000 sf. The existing warehouses were converted into 301 apartment units with an outdoor pool and fitness center at the rooftop of Bldg 4.

Barker Block Phase II (Bldg 5 & Bldg 6) – Type III & V construction, an extended project from Phase I, two warehouses, 2 and 4 story high with total 84,082 sf. They were converted into 21 townhouses and 34 apartment units. It costs about $20 Million.

Montana I – Type I post-tension concrete slab construction, a luxury mixed-use project with retail stores at ground level and 5 story residential apartments above. It’s located at the prime spot of Pasadena between City Hall and Paseo Shopping Mall along Colorado Boulevard. It’s still under construction and spending about $40 million.

Blossom Plaza – a large scale mixed-use project located at the Gold Line subway station of Chinatown. The SD phase is under development by using the module unit system.

May Lin Way – Type V construction, a small scale project, 24,000 sf located at the historical area of Chinatown. The concept is to design a new 5 story Chinese mixed-use building to meet the modern living standard and also reflect the beauty of Chinese cultural heritage.

San Bernardino Courthouse – restoring the historical value and reinforcing the structural system for an important courthouse damaged by a major earthquake

I was a project engineer for a tunnel construction project. The project, Mountain Line Double-Track Railroad Tunnel, is a high-tech construction, 7900 meters in length designed to use open caissons in the 812 meters of the entrance because of the high subterranean water utilizing high pressure grouting to penetrate the foundation of the highway. The tunnel continued through the mountains, passing a geological fault, beneath a lake and exiting from a cliff to connect to a bridge. My duties include reviewed the budget and construction drawings, tunnel survey and conducted an exploration survey, supervised subsurface exploration for soil sampling (31 holes, depth from 10m to 140m), supervised the engineers and labors responsibilities for tunnel excavation, haulage, waterproofing, and checking, design for an office and living accommodation for 40 person staff.
