About

My name is Alexandra Addesso, and I am a recent graduate from the College of Architecture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.  I am originally from Connecticut and am very excited to be back on the East Coast to begin my career.  During my time in college, I have grown and furthered my education and knowledge through my experiences in my course work, internships, and study abroad.  I truly believe that architecture tells the history of our society, and it was an incredible opportunity to experience this first hand in Europe.  Architecture is a huge part of our every day lives, which is why I believe that our profession can be so impactful . I am so excited to pursue this wonderful passion of mine at your firm.

Employment

Journeyman International, San Luis Obispo, CA, US, Studio RED Intern

Journeyman International is a local humanitarian design firm in San Luis Obispo, CA that joins architects, designers, engineers, etc to work on projects across the globe. I was fortunate enough to work with a team to design a learning resort in Wongonyi, Kenya. I interacted with the client and learned how to communicate the design to him. The project blended a school, which would allow women and children in the village to become educated, and an eco-resort which would act as the income to sustain the building. We were responsible for the design and also working on the CD sets for the final iteration of the project.

Education

California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo, CA, US, BArch, Architecture

I received my Bachelor of Architecture with a Minor in Sustainable Design from Cal Poly. This university provided me with a very rigorous, five year course load that pushed me to be extremely efficient and organized. I was exposed to a variety of different design strategies and learned unique techniques from each of my professors. I also learned about many different design programs that assisted me in digitally presenting my ideas and projects.  Throughout my time at Cal Poly, I took a series of five Architectural Engineering courses, which allowed me to gain a holistic approach to the design process.
