My name is Donnell Pinder; I was born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas. There I obtained my Associate's degree in Architecture from College of the Bahamas. I then relocated to Tallahassee to attend FAMU where I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Architecture and my Master's of Architecture.
During my academic career, I was fortunate enough to receive full scholarships to various summer programs in Cambridge, Massachusetts one of which was Career Discovery at Harvard University. This program is a six-week intensive studio where one gets a feel for what architecture is like at the master's level. Another opportunity was at MIT where I took part in a research program, and my research dealt with investigating new ways to design using Virtual Reality. These experiences not only gave me exposure but forced me to work outside of my comfort zone and experiencing that, I now believe that being comfortable with being uncomfortable forces you to make better designs and inevitably a better architect.
Also, I worked at a few Bahamian Architectural firms where I prepared construction drawings, 3D Digital Models, and 3D Renderings. While working at these firms I learned how work in a firm is conducted, what it takes to get projects, and also what I need to do to be an asset to the team.
In conclusion, as you look through my portfolio you will see highlights of work done in various areas throughout my academic and professional career.
