I am very interested in an internship doing hands-on work in the field. I am junior at the City College of New York pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering. I currently work as a member of the Asset Protection/Loss Prevention Department of BJ's Wholesale Club. This department has to deal with stolen goods and expensive items such as electronics and jewelry. I partake in keeping inventory of these items and securing them so that the company does not lose items due to negligence or theft. Recently, I have been appointed the task of running the electronics section in which I set up displays, create price signs, and restock items when they become low on the sales floor. I have been working there for 2 years now and have learned how to work with others and by myself, under stressful time crunches, how to pay attention to detail, as well as working efficiently and in a timely fashion. I have great communication skills along with a hunger for knowledge.
This summer I look to broaden my horizons and gain experience. I have worked retail for two years and am looking to specialize in my field so that I am more prepared for my future. The more I am in college the more I crave hands-on experience. Hopefully I can fulfill this craving at your company this summer and show you that my retail experience working weekends and holidays, have made me well equipped with the proper people skills and technical skills required to excel in the fast-paced environment of your company. Thank you for your time and consideration.
