Charles Lent is a skilled designer and licensed architect with a passion for sustainable design and green building practices.
Currently employed at COOKFOX Architects in New York, Charles has been an integral part of the team since September 2018. In this role, he has demonstrated his expertise in delivering construction documentation, design development, and schematic designs for a range of projects including single-family renovations and new homes as well as multifamily interiors, and ground-up work. Charles utilizes software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, and V-Ray to effectively bring his design concepts to life.
Prior to joining COOKFOX, Charles worked at Spacesmith as a designer from September 2017 to August 2018. During this time, he collaborated with teams to successfully execute projects, providing construction documentation, design development, and schematic designs for corporate interiors, retail spaces, lobbies, and exterior renovations. Charles's proficiency in various software platforms ensured efficient project delivery and outcomes.
Charles also brings valuable experience as a senior estimator for Commercial Stone Fabricators from February 2012 to November 2017. In this role, he led the estimation process for a millwork company specializing in multi-family residential projects. His responsibilities included take-offs, project tracking, organization, phasing, walkthroughs, and sign-offs.
Furthermore, Charles has interned at Gensler, a renowned firm in New York City. During his internship from May 2016 to August 2016, he provided support to project managers in the interior architecture studio. His tasks included 3D modeling and documentation using Revit, creating renderings with 3ds Max, V-Ray, and Photoshop, and preparing presentation packages using InDesign, Illustrator, and Bluebeam.
Prior to his professional career, Charles gained experience as an experiential fabricator at Abel + McCallister from July 2013 to October 2015. During this time, he demonstrated his creativity and craftsmanship by imagining and building production sets for various multi-performance event spaces in Brooklyn, New York.
Charles holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from The City College of New York, where he honed his skills and acquired a solid foundation in architecture. In addition to his formal education, he has earned several certifications, including LEED AP Building Design + Construction and WELL AP from the U.S. Green Building Council and the International WELL Building Institute.
