I grew up in Urbana, Illinois and was exposed to art and architecture at an early age through my parents who fostered my artistic and spatial expression. My father a renowned glass artist, with numerous large architectural glass and granite installations around the country included me, where I was able to partake and witness the integration of art and architecture.
I attended the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) where I focused on glass and the industrial process. There I pursued a degree in Industrial design because of its process, craft, and material focused program. After earning my bachelors from RISD in Industrial design in 2006 I moved to Brooklyn, NY to work as a production designer for a furniture design firm. Soon after, I found that the scale and production of furniture would always inhibit a permanent meaningful and spatial association.
With this, I went back to school at the University of Miami (FL.), receiving my Masters in Architecture in 2010. During my schooling I was exposed and immersed in classical architecture, urban design, historic preservation, and sustainability. I was able to apply my very conceptual undergraduate education within the context of city development, creating unique and comfortable environments.
I started his professional career in architecture at Robert AM Stern Architects in New York, NY. There I was exposed to large projects and the professional work environment of a New York City firm. After graduation and during a visit with my sister who lives in CO, I met with Charles of Charles Cunniffe Architects and soon began my professional career in Aspen CO. While at CCA I was involved with large residential projects as well as some civic and commercial properties. This gave me a great amount of experience in preparing everything from conceptual to permit and construction documents for submission.
I am interested in the response design and architecture has in an environment where issues of scale and material cannot be discarded. This almost forced vernacular architecture drew me to the historical environment of Aspen; an environment where I was able to foster a connection with history, nature, and modern design.
