Ashwini is an Urban Designer with a Master in Urban Design from Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia, USA (2017) and Bachelor in Architecture from NMiMS University, Mumbai, India (2012).
She is currently working as an Urban Designer at City Design Studio in Downtown Los Angeles, California since May 2017. She has had an opportunity to work on three Transit Oriented Development projects till date with a team of landscape architects, outreach team and economic analysts. The firm has forayed into TOD with Metro West Santa Ana Branch Strategic Implementation Plan, with rigorous work to analyse existing demographic conditions, real estate market studies, identification of opportunities, constraints and preparing development plans and design guidelines in accordance of building codes and zoning ordinances for 14 communities along the proposed light rail transit line. She has also been involved in detailing urban design guidelines for street improvements and public realm and conducting outreach workshops, attended numerous municipal meetings, stakeholder interviews planning charrettes on regular basis with a focus on developing design standards for an effective comprehensive corridor-wide TOD plan. Her work has been recognized by SCAD with Dean's award for Outstanding Urban Design Thesis 2016.
With an interest to work towards sustainable architecture, she holds USGBC's accredited LEED Green Associate certificate. Ashwini aims to collaborate not just with planning but also with landscape and architecture.
