About

Currently I'm finishing an MS/Interior Design @ Oregon State University on aging-in-place residential environments; things like how people adapt their homes as they age, and which adaptions are most successful. My very special niche looks at how tiny houses (those wee houses on trailers) can integrate aging-in-place design.

I also research collaborative workplaces and how they help or hinder productivity. At the awesome Wood Sciences department I have been having a blast taking classes in subjects related to building construction, life cycle analysis, and sustainable materials.

I co-teach or assist in undergrad ID studios; my contributions include focus on design communication, concept development, and technology applications.

As a space analyst and CAD drafter at Capital Planning at OSU I coordinated with my team to develop and maintain campus space inventory and accompanying CD documentation. This is way, way more fun than it sounds.

On a personal note I live in Corvallis with Orson the Pug, Mathilda the Cat, and Ian the Recovering Film Student. My favorite films, as I type, are Blade Runner and 2046. I have a very precise martini order. I like my steaks rare.

Education

Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR, US, Masters, Interior Design | School of Design and Human Environment | College of Business

MASTER OF SCIENCE | INTERIOR DESIGN | defense summer 2016
with minor in Wood Sciences

MS Thesis: S. Sequeira. "Tiny houses: Design architectural typicals & challenges of incorporating
aging-in-place design."

This exploration aims to catalog tiny homes by their common design aspects—establishing tiny house
typicals—and explore how these typicals help or hinder aging-in-place. This comparative case study will
also examine logical improvements for each typical, challenges for integrating aging-in-place design,
and propose future avenues of inquiry for this nascent area in design and housing research.
