The architecture contest was organised by Nemetschek AllPlan, and was about imagining the Flag of France for the World Fair of Milan in 2015.
Our answer, Kubicopedia, is an Augmented Reality applied to Architecture project. As the encyclopedia of Diderot in the 18th century, Kubicopedia inaugurates the digital Enlightenment. Paradigm of the concept of "everyware" the Augmented Reality allows us to apply the global knowledge to the world, as a multi-dimensional screen. Using visual markers, Kubikopedia overexposes informations to the reality via a simple smartphone application.
Every object, every window, is the support of infinite possibilities. In that specific case, the goal is to permit an access to a large virtual French encyclopedia of culture, architecture, design...
The user is capable to define what furniture, what landscape, what information to apply to a marked object. In that goal, we chose to use the most neutral objects possible, and the most neutral architecture. The cube was a way to question a Modernism which is losing is landmarks. We received a special Mention for that project, with my two coworkers, Thomas PEREZ and Philippe GARGOV
