Over the past 25 years Jeffrey Hutchison has exclusively worked in the fashion retail architecture and design arena. His specialized experience has attained him a distinguished level of excellence in the industry. Hutchison’s reputation is matched by his client portfolio which includes a broad array of creative projects from established global retail companies to emerging lifestyle brands and designers.
In order to insure Hutchison’s personal, hands-on involvement and to bring his collective experience to each of his clients’ projects, he founded Jeffrey Hutchison & Associates in 2001. Benefitting from a powerful combination of creative ideas and seasoned tools, his firm’s work has garnered much media attention and won repeated awards from industry bodies including the Retail Design Institute, The Fashion Group International and The Association for Retail Environments.
From a 1500 square foot single brand Dooney & Bourke boutique in Macau inspired by the interior of a boat, to a large-scale sculptural 80,000 square foot department store for Barneys in Las Vegas, Hutchison’s versatility and creativity weave in topical themes, employing local materials and artisans to create an environment which in a subtle, almost subliminal way reflects its surroundings.
Hutchison’s long-standing passion for his métier and his creative collaborative process make him an ideal partner for clients seeking the opportunity to create new and beautiful yet functional retail spaces. As opposed to putting a formulaic stamp on his designs, Hutchison believes in delivering the most creative solutions that represents the individual brand or designer’s vision. The result: an exceptional retail experience for the end-consumer, and an environment that truly reflects the brand vision.
Hutchison also believes that there is more to a successful retail project than the customer interface. He digs deep into his clients’ daily business, from staffing to delivery cycles to mark-downs. Hutchison understands that operational processes play a huge role in creating a design that goes hand-in-hand with the company’s philosophy. This experience and focus has been particularly helpful with fledgling businesses that don’t yet have a highly developed language or vocabulary. Hutchison successfully combines maximum creative input with strategic advice on how to navigate the growth of a developing brand. Time and again this level of involvement has led to the long-term success of his clients’ businesses.
