ACSA Collaborative Practice Award, 1st Place
This award honors the best practices in school-based community outreach programs. "This ACSA award recognizes programs that demonstrate how faculty, students, and community/civic clients work to realize common objectives. Collaborative projects and practice can encompass a variety of endeavors, including but not limited to: new construction, rehabilitation, open space planning, zoning and regulatory reform, and the development of new institutions or social processes."
This collaborative project was also published in the December 2010 issue of Architectural Record.
High Point Park Competition, 1st Place
Winning team out of 32 competing teams (300 participants, total). "On Jan 11, 2010, 32 teams of architecture students and faculty members were asked to consider the possibilities and challenges involved with transforming this presently empty acre into an environment that would simultaneously be a showcase of sustainability, incorporate green technologies, and provide benefit to society and the region."
National Concrete Masonry Association Competition, Honorable Mention
Utilizing concrete masonry units as a primary building material, this competition sought to explore inventive means and methods of creating an ephemeral libray in a vacant lot in the Southside of Pittsburgh, PA.
