Graduated as Architect at the Università La Sapienza of Rome, Enzo Carpentieri extensively worked as designer of high-end interiors for luxury hotels and private residences.
His broad knowledge of classical architecture allowed him to attend the remodelling of historic buildings in Rome, London and other European cities. He usually takes care of each phase of his projects, from initial concepts to production drawings, specifications, organising contractors and finally placement of furniture and finishing. On many occasions he also designed customized furniture and doors. In order to present detailed and warmer views of his projects to the clients, he makes use of both his natural ability in the freehand drawing, and his advanced experience in software like AutoCad and Photoshop.
• From 2000 to 2005 he worked as permanent architect of the interior design studio Papiri Collection, located at Via Veneto, in Rome. Some of the works he attended during this period stand out for elegance and richness of details: “Exedra Hotel”, Rome; “New York Palace Hotel”, Budapest; “Carlo IV Hotel”, Prague; “Hotel Mont Cervin”, Zermatt; “Atlantis Bay Hotel”, Taormina; “Mazzarò Sea Palace”, Taormina; “Hotel Splendide Royal”, Rome; “Hotel Dei Dogi”, Venice; “Hotel Parco dei Principi”, Rome.
• In 2006 he started to work as a freelance architect and inaugurated his own studio in via di Ripetta, in the historic town center of Rome. He designed sample-rooms for hotels, private villas in Nigeria and in Riyadh, exhibition stands.
• The years 2007-08 were mainly spent in London, where he had a fruitful and rewarding collaboration with two interior design studios: Tessa Kennedy Design and Wolfson Design. Tessa Kennedy entrusted him with the design of the most representative rooms of classical luxury private villas in London and worldwide. With Philip Michael Wolfson, he worked on a project of contemporary design for the conversion of a Georgian listed building in Piccadilly into an art gallery exhibiting works by Lucio Fontana.
• In 2009 he moved to the United States, to allow his wife, an excellent composer, to express her talent. While collaborating with studios in Miami, he spent part of the time in Italy, to attend the complete remodelling of private apartments in Rome.
• His activities in the United States also include series of lectures for cultural institutions and for university students, on topics concerning ancient and contemporary Italian architecture and design. He also worked as lecturer at the University of Miami, where he gave courses on different aspects of architecture.
• He recently started a collaboration with Celeste Dell’Anna Design UK Ltd, in two big projects, one located in Kazakhstan and the second one located in the British Virgin Islands.

TEACHING AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
• “Images within images: architecture in film”, course at University of Miami, Spring semester 2012. This course explores the powerful emotional contribution of architecture in motion picture communication, comparing Italian and US films. It analyses how architecture and art direction are used to suit our perception and our mood to the development of the story. By watching sequences of famous movies, the course gives students the opportunity to analyze the features of buildings and places: architecture is the stage of our daily life and it affects our emotions in real life as well as on the screen. Part of the course is devoted to the case of Dante Ferretti, the Italian art director who designed sets for both Federico Fellini and Martin Scorsese. We will also talk about CineCittà, the big film studio in Rome, considered the hub of Italian cinema.
• “Living culture: the Italian home”, course at the University of Miami, Fall semester 2012. Since its first configurations, the Italian residential space is expression of a deep and complex relationship between people and life. In the simple domus of the Roman Age, in the sophisticated Hadrian’s Villa at Tivoli, or in bright modern apartments, practical needs are linked with reasons that transcend practicality. This course leads students to explore and understand the shapes of space and the design that characterize many residences, conceived by Italian architects in ancient and contemporary times. We will look for evidence and contributions of a unique millenary culture in the aesthetic and planning traits that we will encounter.
• “Rome: a history of an un-planned city”, lecture at the School of Architecture of the University of Miami, February 2011 (the same lecture has been given also at the Dante Alighieri Society of Miami).
• “The Renaissance palace”, lecture at the School of Architecture of the University of Miami, November 2010.
• “Reusing architecture”, lecture at the School of Architecture of the University of Miami, May 2010.
FINAL NOTE
Reading, observing, cooking are fundamental activities for my inspiration. But the most important contribution to my creativity comes from the music of my wife.
