I recently graduated from the University of Florida with a Master of Science in Architectural Studies with a concentration in Sustainable Design (Master in Sustainable Design). The program’s diversity in various disciplines of architecture (passive design, natural environment conservation, green building, and urban and regional planning) has provided me the solid skills and confidence to be a member of a firm, committed to these elements.
I am seeking an entry-level position as an Urban Designer, City Planner, Assistant Planner or related field. I have acquired many skills and experiences throughout my college career that have prepared me for this job. This includes knowledge in planning, design, researching and writing, and presentation.
As part of my Major Research Paper (MRP) titled Urban Redevelopment as a Sustainable Solution for Growing Cities: A look at Amsterdam Easter Docklands, I explored in depth the process of urban planning, redevelopment, and effective city designs. That experience will be beneficial to the position as well as a vehicle to incorporate urban planning strategies and ideas that incorporate significant elements such as compact walkable areas, passive design, and urban redevelopment/revitalization particularly in unused spaces located in cities urban cores.
I am detail oriented, have excellent problem solving skills, strong work ethic, and my continuing desire to improve the environment and commitment to community and economic development make me a good candidate for this position. I am excited to begin my career in sustainable design and urban planning and I am prepared to face any challenges. I am able to relocate quickly and easily at own expense.
