About

I have surrounded myself with opportunities from school as well as working at Armstrong and Creative Destruction that has shaped me into a responsible employee. I love an environment that has many different priorities that I get to configure solutions for. I also would not mind working non-traditional hours as I like taking all opportunities as learning experiences.

I have done more than enough school projects to understand working effectively  either as a manager or a fellow colleague to complete the project at hand. I have also worked with a number of clients at Creative Destruction and Armstrong to know how to easily relay information for them which can make the difference between people understanding you at a single glance to individuals being lost at sea in a mix of confusing hand gestures and words.

If you hire me, I can offer this job a unique set of skills; a very particular set of skills that I have acquired from the fields of Landscape Architecture and from what I have discovered in life. I am hope you enjoy my life’s work and current autobiography.
Thank you for this opportunity,

Jon Schneckloth

Description of Current Job:

Meeting with Clients and providing them with a Sketch within the first 2-3 hours. Then after discussing plant choices and ground cover options I would leave their home and work on their estimate and building their rough sketch into AutoCAD. This process usually took around 4 hours depending on how big the project was.

I would then usually email the client the design as well as the estimate and see if they approved of the drawing before we started any sort of prework. Sometimes I would go back and discuss the project at their home if they needed a bit of assistance on reading the plan, as not everyone has an easy time with following a Site Plan. I am even on Call daily (even on weekends) and constantly checking my work email that I need to get on top of or else I may lose the client.

Armstrong would usually bid the Contracting work to licensed Contractors and I would be working with them to make sure that all of my details were being met. This could be anything from Speccing in the type of Gravel/Mulch that I want to use as a ground cover, Artificial Turf, Irrigation types, Boulders, Lighting, Retaining Walls, etc. I would have to keep in touch weekly with about 4 contractors to make sure that all of the pre-work is getting done correctly.

I would need to get in touch with 5 different Stores all over the Inland Empire to make sure that they were collecting the correct plant material; down to the exact sub-species. I would have to coordinate the delivery date which would be around 3 weeks once the client has paid upfront for the project. If a store could not get in the selected plant material I would have to use our systems' computers to find where I can pick the plant material up at another store and make the delivery myself.

Now take all of this material plus more paperwork and multiply that by 5 or 6, as that is how many clients I would have per week.

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, Pomona, CA, US, Bachelors, Landscape Architecture

This was were a couple Reasons why wanted to go to Cal Poly Pomona:

1) From Their Website:
"As a polytechnic university, Cal Poly Pomona utilizes a technology-enhanced, learn-by-doing approach to education. Students enjoy endless opportunities for involvement in a vibrant and diverse community"

I learned extremely well under a learn-by-doing process being hands-on and it challenged me to push my limits and do what I can now accomplish today.

2) Accreditation in Landscape Architecture meaning that a Degree here is extremely up to date with the Standards that other school need to have.
