About

I am an architecture critic, researcher and photographer. I have been working in the field of architectural writing for the past three years, exploring different ways to communicate architecture from video production and photography to deep observation of the urban environment, always trying to create a strong link between images and text mostly avoiding any simple advertising readings of architecture. I worked as an architectural journalist for a short period of time, I believe a critical thought is necessary for the discipline thus I tend to focus my articles on critical issues rather than giving the reader a mere informative feature on new buildings or the last emerging archistar.   My research has been focus on the potential of abandoned buildings and forgotten spaces within the urban fabric; photography has been for me a powerful instrument of visual understanding and as a consequence a means to transmit  ideas around both theoretical and practical issues.  I graduated in Italy in 2009 and worked as a landscape architect for more than a year mainly in Sicily. I then moved to London where I studied Architectural Histories, Theories and Interpretation (MA) at London Metropolitan University. Since then, my passion for architecture and writing has led me to collaborate with many magazines and newspapers and I have  been shortlisted in 2012 for the AJ Writing Prize, judged by Joseph Rykwert, Christine Murray, Alan Berman and David Partridge.  My articles have been featured on Icon magazine, Film International, Il Giornale dell'Architettura, Gizmo, AJ, Nykyinen Design and Architecture Player.
