Jonathan Lundstrom chose architecture as his creative medium and is particularly interested in creating beautiful, healthy, energy efficient, sustainable buildings. His work focuses on high-performance design based on standards such as Passivhaus and The Living Building Challenge. He utilities a collaborative design approach with his clients centered around a design/build process to meet his client's needs and achieve simple, efficient and elegant work.
He supports Architecture2030 and positioning our communities to achieve carbon neutral built environments. Achieving Certified Passivhaus projects provides a baseline for achieving net zero resilient buildings.
Jonathan is passionate about quality design, the craft of building and the authentic use of materials. He is currently an Architect and Construction Manager with Birdsmouth Construction providing design/build services for high-performance residential buildings. Previously as an Associate at BWArchitects(BWA), a design studio located in New York City, he collaborated on design projects for both residential and commercial clients. His work, while at BWA, has been published in Architectural Digest and received an AIA design award.
Jonathan earned his Bachelor of Arts in architecture from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, followed by his Master of Architecture from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) with a focus on sustainable design. His architecture studies have taken him to Mexico and Italy, where he worked with the Stalker Group on a proposal for the re-use of a former industrial site in Naples. While at NJIT, Jonathan received awards for design and academics.
Jonathan has over fourteen years experience in design, detailing, and construction administration for projects and is a member of Passive House Alliance United States and New York Passive House.
