Marywood University, Scranton, PA, US, Masters, Interior Architecture
My graduate thesis focused on a concept of Urban Interior Architecture, specifically how interior spaces can transcend scales. Urban Interior Architecture creates an extension of program and space through the envelope of the building and into the city; the outside will always contain the inside, but the inside will shape the outside. By comprising spaces from the interior out, a series of spatial conditions are formed that will provide a catalyst to encourage revitalization of the city. Urban Interior Architecture dictates the program within buildings as well as shapes the surrounding urban landscape; a commitment to the relationship that operates inside and outside the building. Through the use of program and precision, each city is shaped by the interior spaces through multiple scales of the public realm. Therefore, retrofitting existing spaces will invoke revitalization of deteriorating cities through a strategy that provides a focal point of activity within the city.

Interior Architecture derives the meaning and use for buildings by combining both institutional and public demand to create unique spaces. Relation to other programs, proximity to specific locations, and distinct features of the area all play a large role in determining how a space will function. My unique education in Interior Architecture has shaped my perception of interior influence.
