I am an urban designer with a professional urban design degree. I have done several projects, ranging from large-scale urban master planning to small-scale urban infill, from new communities to urban infrastructure. In the 21st century, the world becomes more generic. Educated in US, I learned about urban design history and theory in western countries. High technology and economic profit impair the characteristic of a uniquely context. While growing up in China made me think urban problems profoundly. I’ve been trying to deplore the balance between generic city and cultural context, the integration of human, space and time.
I am also fascinated with architecture design. It’s as same as urban design in some degree. Learning about architecture design process helps me to think urban problems.
I love design and create. I not only love hand made wood design furniture. I also love high technology related parameter design. Design makes me know life better.
In my spare time, I’d like to travel all over the world. Visiting local architectures, walking on the streets, talking with local people and feeling a different environment. I also love to draw some sketches to record the places which impressed me.
China Academy of Urban Planning and Design (CAUPD), Beijinggang, CN, Internship
As a student internship, I was in charge of helping the principles drawing planning analysis diagrams, such as clearing up the results of the field trip, drawing Auto-CAD diagrams, drawing transportation analysis diagrams, etc. During the three months, I took part in two groups, which are about historical city preservation and planning. There were many important historical sites need to be protected. I not only learned many codes about how to preserve historical city but also learned the working atmosphere and environment and communication skills talking to colleagues.
The China Academy of Urban Planning and Design is positioned directly under China’s Ministry of Construction, the entity that oversees all urban development in the country, and is China’s leading planning policy advisor.
