Tzuyi Chuang received his Bachelor of Architecture from The National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan and his Master of Science in Architecture & Urban Design (MSAUD) from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP).
His graduate work at GSAPP focused on developing a PPP (Public Private Partnership) Program with new social housing typologies and relooping the existing BRT route for bring a balanced growth between population and cultural density and shaping the city’s public space identity.
With James Khamsi, he is a co-author of NYCHA’s resiliency plan for Coney Island, NY, in which he proposes converting the existing park into a water treatment landscape as part of its redevelopment.
Tzuyi led and managed diverse architectural design-and-build projects in Taiwan for private entities. At Hangin Architecture Studio, a full professional service design company driven by clear concepts and constructability, his avidity on detecting problems and seeking creative solutions on tectonic details and urban context pushs him to gained experience designing in response to the issues that often get lost in translation between large-scale design concepts and construction reality. He completed the Dental Caries Courtyard Shophouse and Hanging Art Gallery with condense and complete workflow handled direct communication with partners, clients & multidisciplinary parties.
