Professional & Educational Aspirations
Christopher H. Gerdes grew up in Omaha, Nebraska.
He is a designer holding a Bachelors of Arts
in Public Policy from Vanderbilt University and a Master
of Architecture from the University of Michigan.
With a strong interdisciplinary background in the social
sciences, his research focuses on urbanism,
communication and systems theory. His current
interests lies in understanding how environmental
information and urban computing are influencing the
city.
He believes that an architect’s ability for rigorous,
critical, and reflective analysis of the built environment
can lead to a re-empowering role for the profession as
advocates and stewards of positive social change.
Chris has experience learning, living, and working
abroad in diverse cultural environments; always striving
to work with others in a collaborative manner.
He is an avid tennis player, film aficionado, and currently
learning Mandarin in his spare time. He is also bilingual
in English and Japanese.
