Led by a Cal Poly professor, a team of architecture students and Liberal Arts and Engineering Sciences students put together an incredible installation for the centerpiece of the first mini Makers Faire in San Luis Obispo. I was one of three lead designers and project managers of this project.
Our concept was zero waste, and our form was that of an inviting willow tree. Made with polyethylene the inflatable modules were made removable using the tops of recycled water bottles. Throughout the day visitors could remove modules and we would recreate them into bags. The structure diminished throughout the day as visitors would reduce, reuse, and recycle the plastic reflecting the ideal cycle.
