Gensler, Washington DC, Designer/Sustainability Specialist

I had several roles within my time in Gensler.

I worked the first two years as a designer focusing mainly on commercial interiors. I took a 2-year break from Gensler to work for another international firm in NYC and did my 1-year masters in London.

I was called back to Gensler in 2010 to help grow the new sustainability team and worked for 2 more years as a Sustainability Specialist. This role consisted in assisting with the LEED certification and consulting on many projects throughout the firm, which exposed me to cross-disciplinary collaboration across different studios and offices. My main task was to ensure that the sustainable goals of the project were being met. I also ran the eco-charrettes with clients in the early conceptual phases and followed the development through construction. After two years in this consulting role, I transitioned back to my previous interior designer role within the DC-office.
