Mauricio Espinosa , AIA is the founding Principal of Burgeoning Architects in Los Angeles, CA. Mr. Espinosa was born in Portland, Oregon. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon, with field studies at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Mr. Espinosa received his Master of Architecture from The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London.

Prior to his work at The Bartlett's laboratory for Advanced Virtual and Technological Architecture Research, Mr. Espinosa was a practicing architect for 15 years. He served as Associate Design Director / Project Manager for Behnisch Architekten, working for several years between Los Angeles, Boston, and Stuttgart, Germany. His projects have been built and showcased throughout North America & Europe; many have received world-wide critical acclaim for their approaches to design and ecological responsibilities.

Mr. Espinosa's work has been widely published in a variety of books, magazines, and e-Journals in North America, Europe, and Japan. He was a Fellow Speaker at the University of Liverpool's Centre for Manx Studies 2011 Conference at the Isle of Man, UK, and he has been a guest architecture critic at the University of Oregon, The Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL), OTIS College of Art & Design, The Art Institute of Portland, the School of Visual Arts (NYC), and California Polytechnic Institute Pomona. He has participated in exhibitions throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, most recently for The Hypothetical Development Organization in New Orleans. Mr. Espinosa is a licensed architect in California and New York.
