Upon my graduation on May 2nd 2015, I will be a recent graduate of accredited Master's program of Architecture and Community Design at University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. I am very passionate about making an impact on my surrounding community within the scope of design and how design can relate to the local culture. I have a strong emphasis on how humans interact with one another and with the space around them. I envision myself attempting to strive towards design for communal harmony. I am naturally drawn to a larger scale of design that effects a mass of people opposed to an individual residence (granted I enjoy residential design as well).
Throughout my academic career I have had various opportunities to gain hands on experience in the industry and partial exposure to all phases of design. I have even acquired a summer internship from a material manufacturer company, brick and stone veneer, to gather understanding of their perspective of the business and what role they play in the design. I believe I have acquired a reasonable amount of knowledge to say I understand the basic fundamental elements that are necessary to fully complete a project and how design is not the sole resource an architect needs to know to be successful.
At this time in my career is it too premature to say where I want to end up in 10-15 years except that I want to say that I contribute a great deal to developing the community and creating a harmonious balance to satisfy the majority population's needs.
Dwell Design Studio, Atlanta, GA, US, Design Staff
Rabun Architects, Atlanta, GA, US, Projet Design Coordinator
At Rabun Architects I was leading the design team alongside the design manager. We handled majority of incoming projects during conceptual and schematic design phase. I would set up the project in Revit, model the shell of the building as well as the overall floor plans for presentation purposes. I also rendered high quality images using Lumion rendering program. Gained high proficiency in Lumion to add to my skill set. My primary tasks focused on modeling, rendering, schematic presentation and initial area take off calculations.
PFVS Inc., Atlanta, Intern Architect
At PFVS I was involved in all phases of design, including exposure to CA, learning how to handle RFI, submittals and ASI. I also grew my knowledge of developing construction documents, and design development. I was able to contribute to schematic design and showcase my rendering abilities with programs such as Lumion.
I began to manage coordination with consultants and improved my understanding of how to collaborate with the other professions in the field.
The Preston Partnership, Atlanta, Project Coordinator
While at The Preston Partnership I was responsible for assisting in the completion of construction documents and design development for the projects our team was assigned. This entailed creating modeled elements in Revit, developing section and plan details, developing apartment unit layouts and construction sheets (plans, elevations, RCP, etc). This developed my understanding for building code standard and FHA guidelines for multi-family units as well as ADA requirements within dwellings.
Phil H. Cerrone Architects, Fairfield, CT, US, Summer Internship
Assisted and brought alongside daily operations of an architecture firm and was taught how to
analyze, read and create schematic, construction and mechanical documents. Brief introduction to all phases of design to gather overall grasp of what is necessary for a project to be fully completed.
Herscoe & Hijar Architects, Naples, FL, US, Summer Internship
Worked alongside architect to understand various tasks for construction documents, learned how to read construction documents and edit detail drawings. Further gained understanding of construction documents and schematic design. Hands on visits to site to analyze construction process.
Art Concepts, Inc., Naples, FL, US, Assistant Draftsman – Intern
Assisted with Construction documents and established a basic understanding of document procedure. Apprenticeship to learn about how to read Finalized drawings, working drawings and detail connections necessary for commercial projects.
