I am a recent graduate with a MS in Architecture from Ball State University. I am a perpetual learner with a strong curiosity in understanding the forces that shape the natural and built environments surrounding us. By studying field such as physics and geography in my undergraduate program at the University of Kentucky, I explored how physical and social forces promote dynamism in architectural design. In my graduate study at Ball State University, I expanded this investigation within the context of the digital design environment under the direction of Kevin Klinger, professor of digital fabrication.
Professionally, I worked for CASE Inc., a New York City based design software consultancy which provides continuing education to firms looking to implement challenging design software. As a Masters of Architecture student, I focused on both designing and constructing interactive spaces. I developed full sets of both digital design and fabrication skills. An example of a project applying both skills sets was a responsive ceiling installation titled ‘Aperture.’ This installation, which responds to the movement of people in its vicinity, was designed and fabricated from the ground up employing electronics, motors, and custom fabricated components. On this project and others I utilized parametric and BIM software in the production of shop drawings, plans, and 3D digital models. My studies in digital production techniques at Ball State University familiarized me with a variety of fabrication hardware, software, and processes.
My experience and skills have prepared me to undertake the design of interactive, engaging exhibits from inception to completion. This includes design, durability, documentation, and fabrication, as well as visual and verbal communication with staff and clients alike.
