Helpern Architects, New York, NY, US, Project Architect
Since May 2016, my role at Helpern Architects has evolved to take on more responsibility in managing entire drawing sets, interfacing with clients, coordinating with consultants throughout the design and CA process, and working most recently on re-establishing Public Assembly permits for several spaces within an organization's main campus.
I've continued to gain experience using and applying the NYC building codes throughout both design and CA, to a greater extent now as a project architect, and am most proficient in high-end residential, life safety & egress, zoning, ADA, and Public Assembly code requirements.
I am currently working toward licensure under ARE 5.0.
From September 2014 - May 2016, I worked principally on the office’s restoration (and conversion to luxury apartments) of 212 5th Ave, from schematic design to our current construction administration.
My role included design sketches, 3D modeling, site surveys, landmarks submissions, city planning submissions, zoning & life safety, a substantial amount of ongoing coordination with the interior designer and all other trades, sole management of the CAD set & standards, and under the supervision of the project architect, processing the RFIs, submittals and sketches.
The project’s been split into more than 20 packages and has required quick turn-arounds and careful tracking & management since its inception.
Additional projects with Helpern have included several feasibility studies in Lower Manhattan & Brooklyn, roof inspections & reports with Con Edison across their substations in Manhattan, and a design proposal for a bank headquarters based in Connecticut.
