As an architectural historian (MA) I am specialized in researching (preferably academic) the connection between politics and the built environment in the broadest sense. 
 

Relevant subjects have been the (history of) (post-)socialist architecture and urban planning in former socialist countries (Russia, Soviet Union and then-members of the Warsaw Pact (also known as Eastern Europe)) and the connection between authorities, the free market and citizens in a democratic-capitalist country like the Netherlands.
