This 6,400 sq. ft. Student Health Clinic and Bariatric Research Clinic completed for Touro University has multiple functional program areas to serve the university as it evolves their research and teaching practices. Some of the exam rooms are also overnight guest rooms for short term research programs and become teaching spaces for training osteopathic medical students when research is not actively engaged. The 1924 building was originally conceived as a prosthetics manufacturing facility for the adjacent military hospital across the street. The new program's extensive use of natural light, displacement ventilation, and individually zoned rooms combine with highly efficient planning and strategic flexibility to enable low operating costs and high user satisfaction.
