Office compound, comprising of data centre, office building and supporting structures. Approximately 7.000sqm. One of the main challenges of this project has been the harsh climatic conditions both in terms of energy savings as well as in creating an agreeable exterior space for outdoor circulation, while tackling the problem of frequent sandstorms and extreme heat. The design concentrated all buildings around a central well planted yard, an oasis of sorts. Thus the buildings themselves act like a barrier shielding the yard from the desert, creating a cooler environment within, after the fashion of traditional Arabic courtyards.
