SAND HEAD INTERNATIONAL PORT TOWER COMPLEX

The purpose of PORT TOWER is to create port headquarter and be the financial headquarter of the area,along with creating a relationship with the surrounding.

The Kolkata Port Trust has control over vast land for port operations and other purposes which is partially being leased out to Government and private entrepreneurs & individuals for commercial and residential purposes. KPT still possesses a substantial land bank which it plans to utilize for revenue generating purposes, the port tower being one of them.

The Port Tower is a tall skyscraper n few of supportive buildings proposed for construction in Sand-head, a island on bay of Bengal near Sagar-deep 40km from Haldia existing port. It will be constructed with the collaboration of local and foreign investors, in association with the Kolkata Port Trust(Govt. Of India). The height of the tower has a special significance, as it represents a landmark of the whole area. The tower is part of a complex which will be constructed on artificial islands in the shape of very contemporary vision. It will consist of a hotel and a shopping center, as well as an extensive area to host large-scale expositions.

Integrating into Haldia’s skyline, main features of the venture will include a revolving restaurant and a viewing gallery offering a panoramic view of the coastline and the area. The construction site planned for this building is located along the organic shaped island. When completed, the Port Tower will be the tallest building in the state.The Port Tower will be developed on a 100-acre (400,000 m2) waterfront site, off the sagar -sandhead expressway called the sand-head island.
