A different kind of Apple Store in Goudhurst, Kent is to be transformed into a family home, workshop and studio. Located in an area of outstanding beauty, appropriately known as ‘the Fruit Belt’, this former apple packing station will utilise the crates from its agricultural past into the design of the building.

The existing structure will be retained and adapted, as keeping the agricultural aesthetic is a key part of the brief. The workspaces and living areas are arranged around a central triple-height courtyard with apertures from floor to ceiling creating large open spaces. Rooms above once used as cold stores will become more private, cellular accommodation.
