I have always been so attracted to and involved with art since I was a child. I see Architecture as the greatest and strongest form of art there is. Not only the whole design process and how the building is formed, but also how that building impacts its location. After taking pre-college courses at Pratt Institute during the summer of my upcoming junior year in high school, I fell in love with this career. I now dream in being involved in creating the cities of the future and being a part of that movement. I am a recent graduate that is willing and ready to put all my skills that I've learned during school and my internship to use in an office environment.
Mensch Millwork Corp., College Point, NY, US, Jr. Project Manager
I've learned to further my skills while working for Mensch Millwork. In my time with the company, I helped manage different projects in the same time and worked on different custom details for them. Most of our projects were High-end residential buildings in Manhattan, that needed a variety of millwork fabrication. I designed specific widow sills & casing, door details, FCU units and cabinetry. I would also over look all the pieces being made and keep track of everything being delivered either to our other shop in Jersey or the job site. I was able to extend my knowledge in specific detailing for millwork fabrication and hope to use that skill moving forward in my journey as a young architect.
Kushner Studios Architecture + Design, Manhattan, NY, US, Intern
As an intern I was told to do many different tasks. I would make calls for materials for different projects. I also kept in contact with an order of solar panels from China and would keep track of the process from beginning to the end. I made site visits and documented existing conditions. I would then work on drawings like elevations, plans, and demo proposals. I also drew an elevation from scratch from what I documented on a site visit.
New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), Old Westbury, NY, US, BArch, School of Architecture
I can truly say that I really enjoyed my experience in school. I knew coming in, that it would be intense and that I would have some days that I wouldn't sleep. I feel that goes for any student that majors in Architecture, but my passion and love for the career kept me moving forward. During my time in school all my professors were really helpful and knowledgeable in the subject which gave me confidence in what I will be doing for my future. I would also say that the Architecture program in my school was like a family in how the students were with each other and how faculty was always willing to help us.
