Rathbone Market is the third phase of a significant regeneration project in Canning Town, London, for English Cities Fund. Our proposal is for 216 new homes around a shared communal garden and will create a pedestrian link with street-access townhouses to the new public square at the heart of the masterplan.
In contrast to the modern materials used in the first two stages, phase 3 is in the London tradition and built of brick. The development comprises of 1, 2, & 3-bedroom properties formed in a horse-shoe-shape around a communal garden with a mature oak tree, with a secure gated entrance via a public square.
All ground floor properties are two-storey, in the style of a town house, with double- height ceilings and rear amenity space onto the courtyard garden. Apartments on the upper levels will all have a generous balcony, and the great majority will have a double aspect.
The tallest block on Plot 3 will be 14-storeys and the lowest 6. The intention was to provide a development of great visual depth, using two colours of brick: on the outside a black / grey mix, with silver brick around the garden; cascading windows embossed with a diamond texture and powder-coated gold balconies.
