Culver City, CA
The Beverly Clark offices and Residences is intended to feel as unique as its architectural opportunity. Sited along a major retailing street in Los Angeles, this mixed-use building provides an internalized courtyard for the privacy and outdoor engagement of its residents/guests. Along its exterior a series of slipped floor plates create individualized balconies and generate enough relief to be able to shade the balcony below from harsh afternoon/morning sun. The result is a building whose geometry is the direct result of its attempt to remain as transparent as possible-utilizing delicate screens along the East and West facades to provide additional interest and reinforce the horizontal stacking of different uses within the building.
