Villa Miami, developed in collaboration between David Martin’s Terra and One Thousand Group, has been recognized as the Best Residential High Rise Development Architecture in the Country by the prestigious International Property Awards. Designed by ODP Architects, the project competed against leading architectural developments across the US and emerged as a standout in its category.
This landmark project is the first to be branded by the celebrated hospitality firm, Major Food Group, renowned for its highly acclaimed concepts like ZZ’s Club and CARBONE. Situated in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood, the building’s design is heavily inspired by its waterfront location, offering panoramic views of Biscayne Bay. The façade, known as the “geofacade,” captures the dynamic interplay of light and shadow, reflecting the rippling effect of the bay’s waters.
One striking feature is the incorporation of an X-shaped motif at the building’s corners, echoing the movement of vessel traffic along the bay. This impactful design element not only pays homage to the maritime activity but also infuses the structure with a sense of fluidity and motion, seamlessly integrating it into its waterfront setting. As a result, the building becomes not just a static edifice but a living, breathing part of the surrounding landscape, enhancing the visual allure of Edgewater and enriching the urban fabric of Miami’s skyline.
The International Property Awards are judged by an independent panel of over 80 industry experts. The criteria for evaluation focus on design, quality, service, innovation, originality and sustainability. The judging panel is chaired by members of the UK Parliament's House of Lords, including Lord Best, Lord Waverley, Lord Thurso, and the Earl of Lytton.
In addition to winning Best Residential High Rise Development in Florida and the US, Villa Miami was awarded Best Mixed Use Architecture in both tiers, sweeping four categories. The project will now compete for global recognition at the London International Property Awards event in February 2025.
Celebrating its 31st anniversary, the International Property Awards remain the largest, most prestigious, and widely recognized awards program, covering over 50 residential and commercial categories across multiple regions, including Arabia, Europe, Africa, Canada, Central & South America, the Caribbean, USA, UK, and Asia Pacific.
