Most of the time when you are in a city like Mumbai, you get limited space so limited canvas but with unlimited possibilities and opportunity to utilise every inch of scape. For this 1400 sqft carpet area where the client needed maximum utilisation and enough storage spaces at their disposal. So, the obvious choice was to first work on the layout in such a way that fulfils the need and then blend the interiors to form a larger-looking yet distinguished space in the living room.
The use of curves and specific pastel colours in design merges the living room into the dining area and creates a free-flowing space making it feel wider and the use of the fluted design on the wall makes it look taller. The storage spaces have been flushed into these two-toned walls and provide special space to hold memories of significant family members lost.
As we move toward the other rooms in the house, a minimal yet elegant corridor leads the space to expand into an exquisite space of its own. Talking about the individuality of each room, the master bedroom has been designed using tints of green for a serene and calm embodiment of its residents. The use of wood installed into the doors and storage provides a subtle synchronisation into the theme of the room. The room also houses a walking wardrobe marked by plants at the entrance and the storage. A glass door gives a clear view into the same.
Moving toward the room for the elders, it is based on hues of blue and the liquidity of time as the walls don the years of experience in a single frame. Minimally crafted storage covering the nooks and blending in with the timelessness of it all.
The prayer cum son’s room is a delicate balance between the room having two separate spaces for two different purposes. The temple in the room is adjacent to the entry carving for itself a humble abode while the bed (which is a sofa-cum-bed) and the study seamlessly connect. Balanced with plants and its storage, the area provides a relaxed theme while its counterpart has a wood-carved structure and a wood-based compartment for itself.
When it comes to the daughter’s room aka a space with the maximum utility of the smallest room has a corner side bed and study in the same wall-line. A closet that backdrops the door with sliding gates to accommodate all needs. Beside the closet is a dressing which provides a beautiful view both through and around it.
