Chico, CA, August 29, 2017 – NorthStar, a multi-disciplinary engineering, architectural, surveying, and environmental consulting firm, announced today the addition of Teresa Enos-Wakefield to their newly created Director of Operations position.  This position was created to support the growth of the company and to lead the “work on the business” that is planned to promote a healthy organization.

Teresa Enos-Wakefield has 22 years of experience as a management professional and leader. She received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, San Francisco.  Prior to joining NorthStar, Teresa was Vice President of Operations and member of the executive team of a California-based energy efficiency Program Management company. Teresa’s strong operational background grew from her six-year tenure at Applied Materials, a Fortune 500 company where she received world class leadership and business operations experience and training.

Nick Weigel, NorthStar’s new President, states the company embarked on the path to organizational health in 2016 and hasn’t looked back. “Our culture has organically evolved into one where quality people working under shared core values and fostering relationships, have been the keys to our success.  As we mature as an organization we asked ourselves: How do we articulate this culture and perpetuate that success? The book The Advantage by Patrick Lencioni laid this path for us.  It’s about building an organizational infrastructure around supporting people and creating a healthy organization through communication and clarity.”

What does success look like according to Nick? “A company culture where the team comes first before the individual; learning and mentoring is second nature; and every individual thinks and acts like an owner –taking active responsibility for the success of our endeavors, clients and communities.”

Concurrently the company announced that it hired Kristen McKillop as a Senior Planner to head their new specialty in Water Resources Planning and Management.

Kristen holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University, Chico.  She has over 14 years of program and project management experience, and has directed all facets of grant application and management for numerous federal and state grant-funded projects. During her tenure with Butte County Environmental Health, she administered the Land Use Program. Kristen’s direct field experience leveraged with her knowledge of the public sector provides exceptional capabilities in water resources planning and management.

The company is certainly growing in ownership.  In the last year, NorthStar has added five new shareholders: Larry Coffman, Senior Architect; Mark Herrick, Associate Surveyor; Robin Kampmann, Senior Engineer; Kamie Loeser, Principal Planner; Mike Mays, Senior Surveyor.
