Today, the Urban Design Studios in undergraduate programs have been reduced merely to Urban Insert Studios. This project is an urban insert in the city of Surat in Gujarat (Western India), the Land of Gandhian principles. Based on the notions of the nation entering into war of independence whose stalwart symbols were Boycott, Non-Violence and the "Charkha" or the spinning wheel which marked Gandhi's embargo to produce our own clothing and living.
Eclectic threads go way back into the times of War of Independence '1857 when the spinning wheel became the symbol of the movement, the nation, and the National Flag.
