The Al-Wakrah Stadium will be renovated to increase its seating capacity from 20,000 to 45,000. The new design comes from Speer's Frankfurt-based architecture firm via AS&P/ hhvision Speer's designs focus on sustainability. Plans for the stadium call for water from the Persian Gulf to help with its cooling system. After the tournament it would be dismantled and shipped to developing countries via AS&P/ hhvision
