I am a fourth-year undergrad student that studies architecture at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. I have acquired many skills from studying at this school since we start with core classes in our freshman year. I have learned to take small concepts and turn them into actual projects, what materials to use and their strengths, how to make complex and organic buildings become structurally sound and building codes to make sure the designs are safe. I have also learned many skills like working with 3D programs such as Rhino, Revit, Grasshopper, and Dynamo. To edit my drawings and draw up construction documents, I use AutoCAD, Revit, or Adobe Illustrator for final touches. For renderings, I use either Vray or Lumion to help portray my concepts.
I have experience working in a team because I was in a studio where I had to design a creative campus with another architect and two landscape architects. I learned that this is what my future will be like and you must work in a collective language where communication is clear, and compromises must be made to make the team work. I also currently work at the fabrication lab where I make lasercuts and 3D prints for fellow students. I have interned at an architecture firm last summer and I got to see how architects and engineers work together, and I am looking forward for another opportunity to learn some more.
