Virgin Gorda, May 26, 2018 – Montgomery + Townsend Architecture and Design (M+T AD) is pleased to announce the ground breaking on their signature Oil Nut Bay Residence. The British Virgin Islands are bouncing back after Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and this project is part of a broader push by Oil Nut Bay to continue its development of bespoke luxury homes.
Set along the eastern peninsula of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, Oil Nut Bay fuses thoughtful architectural planning and design with unsurpassed physical beauty to create a resort and residential community that is unmatched in luxury in this part of the world.
The design for the Oil Nut Bay Residence is based upon the traditional courtyard house. In order to mitigate some of the impact of the steep site, the entrance to the home is on the roof where guests are confronted with panoramic views of the surrounding sea, as well as Necker and Eustasia Islands. The lower levels integrate the house into the surrounding natural landscape resulting in a structure which blends in to its surroundings, revealing only the main levels of the house to the outside.
“We’re excited to start construction on this one of a kind project. This project represents the culmination of efforts by a great team and is one of the first new developments post hurricanes. We are glad to be a part of it,” founders Steven Townsend and Andrew Montgomery stated. Completion of the Oil Nut Bay Residence is expected for Q2, 2020.
