Bartkowscy is a family bakery of 18 stores in Toruń ( Poland ) with tradition that goes back to 1927.

In 2014 in cooperation with mode:lina architekci the owners created a new place with unique character on Aleja Solidarnosci in Toruń – Doppio Cafe Bistro.

The meeting with centenarian story of this family's craftsmanship was a huge inspiration for the new interior design. An aroma of fresh bread, huge ovens and old worn out baking sheets made it clear to the architects that the fusion of tradition and modern design is the answer.

Dark patinated baking sheets received a second life as a wall décor and lamp shades.

Traditional atmosphere is omnipresent thanks to oven-shaped furniture and natural wood mixed with little enamel white tilling.

The counter and lighting are finished by meticulously selected wooden planks that may refer to traditional oven fuel.

A complement of whole is white-black mosaic floor that is the reminiscent of old stores.
