We are laying hardwood flooring in our front hall that adjoins a room that has tile floors. The hardwood is higher than the tile floor. How do we join the two?

A metal transition strip or a schluter strip should suffice if they aren't too far off

rosyjeny: if you will Google 'transitioning tile to hardwood floor' you'll get lots of illustrated advice and design ideas on how to solve this problem. Good luck.

There are several different transition strips at Lowes and Home Depot which should have the dimensions you need. If nothing else take a small length of one of the hardwood boards and a tile of like thickness with you.
