Does anyone know when the ground breaking is for Steven Holl’s NY (Queens) Hunters point Library?
Is the construction is to kick off and start in the fall of 2011???
I am out of state and having a hard time finding the project info in the New York Times.
I am already planning a trip to NY, if I could get the timing right-Then it would be cool to be there at the same time.

That building is pretty bizarre looking to me, but who knows - maybe it'll end up being fantastic. I like Holl, he usually piques my interest with his stuff.

I believe the library will all be about the interior.
Like an Aalto space- see most of the images on the inside.
Holl's library will focus on light and internal volumes

Has this really not been discussed more recently? Come on guys!
I'm very curious what the architect's defense will be here. I can't believe these are really "mistakes" that were not discussed at length. The owner "signing off" seems destined for failure. Not sure how the design could be justified.
I'd love to read that but it's behind a pay wall. :(

Actually it only takes about 15 seconds. I know about most of the situation - it's been discussed here as well. I simply wanted to read the NYT article to be able to discuss it's contents here.
That thread got Balkinated, but it would be interesting to hear if there are any news updates on court proceedings.

click on the article screen , go to inspect, click on the settings wheel at the top right, scroll down, disable java script, reload the page.
