look at the rest of the project photos - the work has a deconstructed quality to it with untaped sheetrock. It's nice

the stair treads are attached to the white wall on one side and vertical hanging wall piece on the other side. The vertical piece is hanging from the floor above.

This is how I read it, too. On the outboard side, the zig-zagged trapezoidal stringer extends from the tread-tops up to the floor above. Interesting detail with funky results.
