I am a second year architecture student and were told that we should start learning to design on computers. I was wondering which programs are recommended and which ones are a mandatory to learn. I was also wondering where I could find tutorials to learn how to use these programs. Moreover, do I need a gadgets such a drawing tablet ?
Thanks

The current industry standard is MS Paint. All big-name firms demand this as an absolutely necessary skill. Start out with a few simple tutorials and then when you feel confident, move on to the highly advanced commands. Other students will tell you to learn "important" programs like CAD/Revit, but they're just wasting their time. No one cares about these toy apps. As far as gadgets go, you'll need to get an iPad(R) Pro(TM) for the best learning experience for your shiny new apps.
I have over 20 years experience using ms Paint and I still learn new commands every week. Everything else are just fads.

You should transfer to a different school. If your professors and classmates do not know you're screwed.

Don't listen to everyone else regarding MS Paint, that is definitely on its way out and being replaced by KidPix. My most used command is the "Undo Guy," although my favorite has to be "Moving Van."
